The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA, President: Haruhiro Tsujimoto) has announced that public voting for the Japan Game Awards 2026 “Games of the Year Division” opens today, Friday, June 12. This division honors the titles that best represent the year. Eligible titles include any games released in Japan between Sunday, June 1, 2025, and Sunday, May 31, 2026, from which the defining game titles of the year will be selected.

The voting deadline is Friday, July 17, at 23:59 (JST). For further details, including how to vote, please visit the official Japan Game Awards website.

By voting, you can win prizes like game consoles by lottery!

Voters will be entered into a lottery for a chance to be one of approximately 350 lucky winners to receive premium prizes. This year’s lineup includes various gaming consoles such as the PlayStation 5 Pro, Nintendo Switch 2 (Japan-exclusive model), and XBOX Series X. Other exciting prizes feature the “Games of the Year” division winning software or related merchandise, Tokyo Game Show 2026 admission tickets, and special invitations to the Japan Game Awards “Games of the Year” Presentation Ceremony. The Japan Game Awards “Games of the Year” Division recognizes and honors outstanding computer entertainment software titles that best represent the year. Following the public voting period from Friday, June 12 to Friday, July 17, the Japan Game Awards Selection Committee will review the entries to determine the winners of the “Grand Award,” “Awards for Excellence” (multiple titles), and other accolades. Japan Game Awards 2026 “Games of the Year” Division – Voting Guidelines

Eligible Titles

All computer entertainment software titles released in Japan between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026.

Eligible platforms include all home consoles, handheld devices, PCs, and smartphones (all platforms are eligible).

This includes Japanese localized versions of overseas titles.

Voting Period

Friday, June 12, 2026, 13:00 to Friday, July 17, 2026, 23:59 (JST)

Eligibility

Open to all. Anyone can vote, regardless of gender, age, nationality, location, gaming experience, or game ownership.

Limit one vote per person. Only one vote for one title per person will be accepted.

The prize lottery is open to residents of Japan only.
